MOUNT PLEASANT BUSINESSES FEATURED IN BUS SHELTER POSTER CAMPAIGN
The Mount Pleasant Business Association (MPBA) announced the launch of a promotional campaign of posters prominently located in 10 bus shelters surrounding the Mount Pleasant neighborhood.
Encouraging people to “Experience*Explore*Taste Mount Pleasant,” the eye-catching posters also feature twenty-four Mount Pleasant businesses that showcase the wide range of goods and services available right here in Mount Pleasant: restaurants, cafés, sports bars, antiques, clothing, home décor, pharmacy, library, hardware, dentistry, yoga, massage, spas and more!
The poster campaign marks the first time that the Mount Pleasant business community has united with a local nonprofit and DC agencies in an effort to promote the neighborhood’s assets. “Designing the poster together and getting it in the bus shelters represents how the community is coming together. The city opened the door to enable the business community to present this group effort,” said Gabriela Mossi, MPBA Director. The initiative was supported by the DC Department of Transportation (DDOT) and a Neighborhood Investment Fund (NIF) grant.
“As small business owners, we are grateful to DDOT and NIF for giving us this opportunity. Individually we would never have been able to afford this type of technical assistance and publicity,” said Alex Kramer, owner of Dos Gringos Café.
The bus shelter poster campaign represents the first initiative in the revitalization of the Mount Pleasant business corridor and encourages the community to support local businesses. Joanie Majeed of Mt. Pleasant Pharmacy said, “It was exciting to get everyone working together, collaborating with the city, and to see the businesses really coming out to support this campaign.” Glyn Clea of Melissa Beauty Salon added, “Visually, the posters will attract residents and visitors and let them know what Mount Pleasant has to offer.”
How can you support Mount Pleasant small business? Alberto Ferrufino of Don Juan Restaurant says: “Shop local!” Especially in the spirit of the holidays, keep your money in the neighborhood and shop for gifts or buy gift certificates from the neighborhood businesses.
The Mount Pleasant Business Association sincerely thanks the Neighborhood Investment Fund for the small business technical assistance, the DC Department of Transportation for the opportunity to use the bus shelters and local nonprofit Historic Mount Pleasant for their support in this initiative.
